In i Capital dated 20 Feb 2025, (Vol 36 number 25), I wrote that Tunku Abdul Rahman (Tunku) is the most visionary prime minister Malaysia has ever seen (I have written this piece of opinion before in 2004). This has been my belief for a long time now but as the years went by, with more Malaysian prime ministers taking the mantle, my long-held belief has not only been proven right but it has grown even stronger than before. No Malaysian prime minister comes close to the brilliant vision and penetrating wisdom that Tunku possessed.
No Malaysian prime minister comes close to the brilliant vision and penetrating wisdom that Tunku possessed.
This week will feature, belatedly, Part 2 of this vital subject. I will dig in deeper on this important topic by comparing Tunku with Malaysia's 4th/7th prime minister. Who really built Malaysia ? In contrast, who destroyed Malaysia ? I would encourage all our subscribers to read this unique comparative analysis of the two Malaysian prime ministers. I believe this is the first time such an exercise has been undertaken.
Note from Publisher
The 21st annual general meeting (AGM) of icapital.biz Bhd (ICAP) will be held on Saturday, 4 Oct 2025. ICAP is the only listed company that conducts all its AGMs on Saturdays for the convenience of individual share owners.
To mark the 21st anniversary of ICAP, share owners and proxies attending the AGM in person will receive an exclusive 21st Anniversary gift from ICAP. Come and celebrate the auspicious occasion with us and experience a unique AGM that is informative, exciting and productive.
This year’s AGM is especially important to all share owners because they get to decide if ICAP will continue as a closed-end fund forever. Bursa Malaysia deserves to have more closed-end funds like those in the London and New York stock exchanges. Closed-end funds have many advantages that other types of collective investment schemes do not have. Malaysian investors, particularly those with limited capital and investing skills, deserve to have more investment choices and easy access to a professionally managed portfolio of undervalued Malaysian equities. Every share owner’s votes are needed to ensure that ICAP, Bursa Malaysia’s only closed-end fund, stays where it belongs.
As Tan Teng Boo wrote in its latest 2025 Annual Report, “We must not let the actions of certain irresponsible members of the ICAP community selfishly destroy what we have been building over the last 21 years, just as it is reaching an age of maturity. There is only one icapital.biz Berhad, just like our precious planet.”
